Chapter 9 / 10
VIII. Framework reference
Provides the contract, benchmark, alternatives, evidence, claim-boundary, and next-falsification template for each capability.VIII. Framework reference
This chapter is the documentation face of the book. As the research progresses, the same template will be used for every capability:
Capability
Problem definition in human language.
Computational contract
Which distinctions must be preserved in state, and what update behavior is expected?
Executable reference
The minimum symbolic/reference mechanism, if one exists.
Benchmark
A test world that separates the target capability from shortcuts.
Ordinary alternatives
Strong baselines that might solve the same task more simply.
Neural realization candidates
Transformer, recurrent state, slots, SSM, graph, hybrid, and so on.
Evidence
Positive, negative, and technical results.
Claim boundary
What the result supports, and especially what it does not support.
Next falsification
The next cheapest and most discriminating test.
